Notifications

Posted on 14th April 2013

I am always amazed when I meet someone to see on his or her locked phone, several notifications. People put their phone on the table, that’s the way it goes now. I already blogged about it. Notifications gives you a good sense of what is important for people. For instance, on many phones I see, I recognise the Facebook icon, the twitter icons, emails; news from various apps. Fair enough, technology enables this. Be informed in real time. It is cool in a way. But also, who cares ? Seriously, so what ? What impact on your day ? What consequences for … Read the rest of the post →

Unlearn before you learn

Posted on 9th March 2013

I hate definitive sentences. What i mean by “definitive”, it is the small sentence you hear from people stating a fact. It sounds a bit like; “I am terrible at math” “I am crap with foreign languages” “I am not a fan of reading” “I am really bad at cooking” “I will never be able to do X” etc etc You may have said a sentence like this yourself in the last 24 hours. Well; my opinion ? It is dumb. Nothing is settled forever. Of course, there are limits. I will never play rugby with the French national team. … Read the rest of the post →

My 3 give-ups for Jan (in Evernote)

Posted on 30th December 2012

It is this time of year again. The time when we list the things we are not going to do next year. The “quit smoking”, “do sports”, “go to bed early”, “Loose 10 kg” type of resolution no one ever does. This year, I will try a new kind. My 3 give-ups for Jan. I will give up doing 3 things for a month. One @ work. One @ home. One for Health & Fitness. Just like the categories of this blog. 3 things I intend to let go for good this Jan. 3 things that will let you save … Read the rest of the post →

What if money was no object ?

Posted on 9th December 2012

Well, sometimes, we need to get back to basics. What if money was no object ?  What would you do with your 1440 minutes ?    I would teach. I would write.    And that’s exactly what I am doing.   Thanks Chris for sending me this one.

Skyfall and texting

Last friday, I made a big decision in my life. I will never step foot in a movie theater until they implement the Alamo rule. Let me explain. I went to see the latest Bond movie. I enjoy a good action movie from time to time. My life is not all about time management and personal development. To my left, 3 people. 2 boys, 1 girl. Gen Y or Z or whatever marketers want to call them. The movie has not yet started. The trailers and commercial are shown on the screen but they are in their own little world: … Read the rest of the post →

Evernote, Cooking and Gordon Ramsay

Posted on 21st October 2012

I have already said it but I am going to say it again: INVEST TIME IN COOKING.  The more you do it, the lesser it takes. I truly believe in this. And the more you do it, the more you will enjoy life and your minutes. Simple as that.  Today, I am going to explain how to learn to cook, or improve your cooking skills when like me you are inadequate. I have the following (stupid) rule: 1 new dish a week 1 new dessert a week This means, 52 new dishes per year and 52 new desserts per year. … Read the rest of the post →
